Winchester "W" Ammunition Review

Winchester recently introduced the “W” line of ammunition consisting of training and defense rounds in .380 ACP, 9 mm, 40 Caliber S&W and .38 special.  This ammunition is designed to provide reduced felt recoil for the shooter.  More interesting is the second goal of the W line.  The W training rounds are ballistically matched to the defense rounds.  This means you can train with your normal box of Winchester W line T rounds and be confident that your point of impact will be the same at your time of need.  The D hollow point rounds  will hold the same placement as what you have been seeing at the range.   I put this to the test.  I fired the “W” line ammo in mixed magazines and in succession on the same targets at multiple ranges.  If there was any difference in the POI I should have seen 2 separate groupings developing...

The Shady Family Behind America’s Iran Lobby

INFLUENCERS 09.15.15 How one enterprising Iranian expat family and its allies successfully pushed for U.S.-Iran rapprochement—and now stands to make a fortune from sanctions relief. When the world’s major powers struck a deal over Iran’s nuclear program in Vienna in July, it represented a victory not just for the Islamic Republic, which has now been granted international legitimacy as a nuclear threshold state, but also for a small but increasingly influential lobby in America, one which has long sought rapprochement between Washington and Tehran and now seeks to leverage a successfully concluded nuclear deal as a means to that end.   This Iran lobby, publicly represented by the National Iranian American Council (NIAC), has become a staunch institutional ally of the White House selling the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, as the nuclear deal is known. But while NIAC has done the heavy-lifting—the ad-buying, the leafleting, and congressional meet-and-greets, all designed...

Russia calls on US for dialogue on Syria

Kremlin spokesman says talks between Moscow and Washington on solving Syria crisis are indispensable, Reuters reports.  By: http://www.aljazeera.com/ Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has called on the US to start a dialogue on solving the Syrian conflict, Reuters news agency reported. Peskov made the comments on Tuesday when asked whether talks on Syria were possible between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Barack Obama. The announcement came after two US officials on Monday accused Russia of positioning about half-a-dozen tanks at an airfield in Latakia, a city at the centre of a Russian military build-up in Syria. The officials in Washington DC said that the intentions of Russia's latest deployment of heavy military equipment were "unclear". Putin defends supporting Syrian government Putin says it's impossible to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group without cooperating with the Syrian government. 'We are back in America': ISIS releases chilling new video on 9/11 anniversary where extremists threaten fresh attacks on the US

By JULIAN ROBINSON FOR MAILONLINE ISIS has released a chilling new video on the anniversary of 9/11 - threatening new attacks on the US. Extremists claim they are 'back in America' during the ten minute video, which also warns the US to expect a repeat of the atrocity as well as 'cars full of explosives and suicide bombers'. The film was released as America marked 14 years to the day since two jets were flown into the World Trade Centre in New York killing nearly 3,000 people.  In the footage, which claims to have been made by ISIS, pictures of Osama bin Laden appear next to images of the burning Twin Towers in 2001. At one point, it quotes the former Al-Qaeda leader's statement that 'every Muslim, from the moment they realise the distinction in their hearts, hates Americans, hates Jews, and hates Christians.' It includes another quote from the terrorist...

North Korea warns U.S. it's ready to use nuclear weapons 'any time'

By Jethro Mullen, CNN In its latest bout of saber rattling, North Korea says it is ready to use nuclear weapons against the United States and other foes if they pursue "their reckless hostile policy" toward Kim Jong Un's regime. In a statement carried by the North's state-run Korean Central News Agency on Tuesday, an atomic energy official said Pyongyang is improving its nuclear weapons arsenal "in quality and quantity." "If the U.S. and other hostile forces persistently seek their reckless hostile policy towards the DPRK and behave mischievously, the DPRK is fully ready to cope with them with nuclear weapons any time," the director of the North Korean Atomic Energy Institute said, using an abbreviation of the country's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. North Korea's main nuclear complex at Yongbyon, which includes a uranium enrichment plant and a plutonium production reactor, is operating normally, the official told...

Iran's supreme leader releases video declaring defeat of the United States if war breaks out

Iran's supreme leader has released an ISIS-style YouTube propaganda video, declaring that his country would defeat the United States if a war breaks out. The video from Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, entitled "If any war happens...," begins with President Obama stating that the U.S. could "knock out [Iran's] military" quickly if it chose to do so. Khamenei then says "our predecessors used to call such statements 'boasting among strangers.'" We neither welcome nor begin any war,” he continues, as the video shows images of the Iranian military, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and an animation of an Iranian missile striking U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan. “They must know that should any war break out, one will emerge humiliated out of it. [It] will be invading and criminal America,” he concludes over an image of U.S. troops carrying a flag-draped coffin.

9/11 Anniversary: How has terrorism changed in the past 14 years?

By Tim Lister CNN (CNN) -- In the 14 years since the 9/11 attacks, the face of terrorism has changed out of recognition. To many experts, the threat of Islamist terror is in some ways greater and in some ways diminished. It is geographically more diverse and organizationally more divided, and leverages social media and the internet in a way impossible in 2001. In the West, Islamist terrorism is often more inspired than organized and directed. Its menace is also more fluid and unpredictable than it was on that bright autumn morning in 2001, but the tools to combat it are also more plentiful, from ever more sophisticated and accurate drones to financial intelligence and algorithms for chewing terabytes of data in the pursuit of suspicious communications. The likelihood of an attack on the scale of 9/11 has receded. but the probability of more frequent though less devastating attacks has increased....
