Beware 'stealth jihad' in America
By Paul Bremmer
In today’s increasingly dangerous world, many Americans are on alert for the next terrorist attack by a Muslim jihadist. But when it comes to the radical Islamic threat to the American homeland, there’s much more to be concerned about than simply terrorism, warns David Kupelian, journalist and bestselling author of “The Snapping of the American Mind.”
“Since September 11, 2001, everybody has been focused on terrorism – buildings coming down, fears of biological and chemical weapons attacks, and we do have occasional attacks,” Kupelian said during a recent guest appearance on “The Glazov Gang” Internet TV show. “But while that’s going on and distracting our attention, there is another front in this war. I describe it in the book as a two-front war, and the second front is the stealth front.”
Acknowledging that not all Muslims are jihadists, Kupelian nevertheless observed that Islam has a brutally violent history. He explained that he personally lost as many as a hundred extended family members, from both sides of his family, during the Armenian Genocide, which was perpetrated by Turkish Muslims during the waning days of the Ottoman caliphate.
This slow, stealthy strategy involves infiltrating and subverting America's institutions, said Kupelian. To cite one example, he noted that several "mainstream" Islamic organizations in the U.S. have close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, among them the Muslim American Society and the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR.
Kupelian reiterated that this is the very same technique the left has used to infiltrate and ultimately dominate major American institutions over the last couple of generations.
"I grew up during the Cold War, hiding under the desk because we were concerned during the Cuban Missile Crisis about thermonuclear war," the author recalled. "The Soviet Union and America each had thousands of nuclear warheads aimed at each other's population centers. That's where all the attention was."
But while Americans worried about nuclear annihilation, leftist, America-hating professors were taking over the universities, noted Kupelian. One of them, Howard Zinn, wrote the widely used history text, "A People's History of the United States," which presents American history through a socialist lens. The book has become assigned reading in many high schools and colleges around the country.
However, explained Kupelian, compared to the threat of nuclear war, crazy socialist professors and their rewriting of American history didn't seem so dangerous to Americans.
Now, the author says Muslims bent on bringing about shariah dominance in America are doing what Marxists did – fighting a two-front war, supplementing violent assault with a steady, behind-the-scenes infiltration of American institutions. The public schools appear to be one battleground. For example, middle-school students in Tennessee were recently taught a sanitized version of Islam in their social studies class and even forced to declare, "There is no God but Allah."
"I think the left kind of paved the way for the stealth jihad," Kupelian said.
